FilesHow do I transfer big files to clients?

Suppose you had to transfer a large file to a client  …..  or they had to send one to you?

Examples might be Powerpoint Presentations or Shows, Videos, Audios, Bookkeeping Company Files, Authors Manuscripts or maybe files full of content for a website with lots of graphics and pictures.

If you use Google Mail, MSN, Yahoo or even your own email from your website or your internet provider, you will find that files which add up to Megabytes in size will not transfer or, if they do, it can take hours to send.  It doesn’t happen every day to most Virtual Assistants but when it does, there are options for you.  I will list a few of them here with links.

Send This File:

This program is free when you sign up for an account whereby you can send one file at a time.  It takes several minutes but works very well.      http://www.sendthisfile.com

You Send It:

This program allows a free account “Lite” whereby you can send up to 2MG files.  They have a 14 day free trial as well on different packages ranging from $9.99 per month to $29.99 per month or pay per use.   http://www.yousendit.com

Transfer Big Files:

This program allows free transfer of up to 1GB.      http://www.transferbigfiles.com

Another way to send large files to your client or your client to you is by using an FTP program.  You can send the files directly to your clients website, provided they give you access to their site for the transfer.

Filezilla:

It is a free download here:      http://filezilla-project.org

SmartFTP:

There is a 30 day evaluation download.  After 30 days, you pay for either the Home or Pro Edition from $36.95 to $49.95 for one user.      http://www.smartftp.com

Be assured that whatever you must send, there are many programs that can provide that service.

  1. Nice post. I learn something more challenging on different blogs everyday. It will always be stimulating to read content from other writers and practice a little something from their store. I’d prefer to use some with the content on my blog whether you don’t mind. Natually I’ll give you a link on your web blog. Thanks for sharing.
